Schloss Knoop!

My onkel Horst and cousin Steffen purchased a castle in Klevenow, Germany a few years back and have been upgrading/repairing nearly every facet of this old domain. Through this work, they both have many interesting stories about it including discoveries made and learnings about it’s rich history. Below are three pictures sent to me. The castle was originally built in the 1300’s. Hopefully they will find some time to share more about it.

Euro English

European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as “Euro-English”.

In the first year, “s” will replace the soft “c”. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy.

The hard “c” will be dropped in favour of “k”. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome “ph” will be replaced with “f”. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent “e” in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing “th” with “z” and “w” with “v”.

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary “o” kan be dropd from vords kontaining “ou” and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl.

Tim Knoop

Hello All,

I’m Tim Knoop. I was born in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) on March 12, 1988, as the second child of Harry Knoop and Astrid Knoop (van Tour). For 8 years I lived in Rotterdam, Mathernesseweg 363B. Since 1996 I live in Capelle aan den IJssel. Capelle aan den IJssel is next to Rotterdam.

From 1996 to now, I’m having the time of my life in Capelle aan den IJssel. I couldn’t get better , I think.
I succesfully got my diploma’s on 2 different schools. Now I’m doing a two year computer education, this is my last year. Three times a week on wednesday, thursday and friday i’ve got internship (training period) in a local hospital. My uncle dus the same shop , full-time , so thats pretty cool.

After this education i really don’t know what i’m gonna do then. My mind is focused on several things: -Army (like my grandpa “Jacop Knoop), – A Specialised computer education, – Full-time work in the hospital.

I hope that i can visit family once in the U.S.A or Canada, any volunteers? :)

I hope to hear more of my lost family in different country’s :P .

Much Love,

Tim Knoop.
