Since launching this site in ernest, I have had the pleasure of meeting many other Knoops from all over the world including Norway, South Africa, America, the Netherlands and several right here in Canada. Many ask me if we’re related – something I could not possibly answer. To attempt to answer that and provide a facility for the collection of Knoop ancestors, I am pleased to present The Knoop Family Tree.
The idea is that every Knoop family enters in details about their family, both current and past as best as they can. If you know that you had a great-grandfather that was born in Germany in 1847 and that his name was Hans Knoop, enter it – even if you do not know all the details. The software also allows you to upload pictures including headstones. It makes searching for Knoops very easy.
This genealogy software is a separate application from the knoop.org website, so you will have to register an account in order to use it even if you have already registered with knoop.org. If you run into troubles, you can post a reply here or contact me directly.
While I have entered only my immediate family at this time, I should be able to enter approximately 30 Knoops over 4-5 generations – maybe more. As this grows over time, common ancestors will be easily identified.
So please, contribute a few minutes to knoop.org and help me build the most comprehensive source for the Knoop family name!
